I who have spent dozens
of climbs over several weeks selecting the best equipment,
find myself with rotten gear and what’s more under-inflated…
my departure but given the pouring rain and already telegram data Hesitate to postpone soaked, I don’t see myself waiting
another 30 minutes for a new slot. So I leave this time with my morale in
my socks. I ruminate the whole climb and suddenly hardly notice the effort
I’m so angry with myself… And yet what a shame I’m having a good day, I
cross the line @347w but only 9’59… without having the impression of
giving it my all. On my 3.760 segment I achieve 345w but take 7s in the Hesitate to postpone view for 2 watts more however because of the wheels (1.55kg, gp4000s vs 1.115 kg, latex, supersonic…).
9’45 @345w (Neutron, gp4000s, 5b, 68.8 kg total)
In short enough to do 9’34 in the same conditions as Thursday or 9’44 on the
official time. HORRIBLE feeling of frustration at the time….Finally after obtaining
the ranking, I finished 6th overall. I could have davin odia possibly aimed for
Olivier Guth’s place (not good, toothache…) in 9’47 but then 9’36
and especially 9’29 for 3rd place was inaccessible. I still won
my category. Special congratulations to my friend Hervé who finished 2nd
in a stratospheric time of 9’29 @375w for him. He sticks + 13w in one
week since the Lachtelweiher.
This mishap at least confirms the importance
of choosing the right gear and reinforces my performance results already measured
even if I would have been happy to do without it. I am still very satisfied clean email with the watts,
it’s my record for 2013 with 347w over 10 min or 5.7 w/kg brought back to
the morning’s body weight. Enough to stay motivated as I close out my best end of season in a long time.
